Prof.* Dr. phil. Dipl. sc. pol. Stephan J. Lang was admitted to the Munich bar in 1994. After a double degree in law and political science, he completed his legal training in the legal department of the former Bayerische Vereinsbank in Munich and Paris. He then worked as a commercial lawyer at the renowned law firm King & Spalding in New York.

After completing his doctorate, Prof. Lang worked as a lawyer at the Federal Ministry of Defense and as a project manager at the University of the German Armed Forces. Research visits have taken him to Rome, Washington and Harvard University. Since 2002, he has been a visiting lecturer in commercial law at the Georgian Technical University in Tbilisi, where he was appointed visiting professor in 2013. He is also a founding member of the Swiss business and strategy consultancy SCPA.

His professional focus is on inheritance and inheritance tax law, which he increasingly handles internationally – in particular in collaboration with partners in Italy, France, Spain and, since 2010, in the Middle East. At the end of 2015, he opened his own offices in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There, in addition to commercial law, he focuses on international succession planning, asset structuring and tax structuring advice.

Prof.* Dr. Stephan J. Lang has headed the legal department at Dubai Business Consulting since 2010 and brings his extensive legal experience to bear on cross-border mandates.
